being only 45 minutes from the urban amenities of downtown Portland.
Though Sandy's heritage was logging and saw milling, today's

Mt. Hood National Forest
The Mt. Hood National Forest- Located twenty miles east of the city
of Portland, Oregon, and the northern Willamette River valley, the
Mt. Hood National Forest extends south from the strikingly beautiful
Columbia River Gorge across more than sixty miles of forested
mountains, lakes and streams to Olallie Scenic Area, a high lake
basin under the slopes of Mt. Jefferson. The Forest encompasses some
1,067,043 acres.
Middle schoolers of Sandy attend Cedar
Ridge Middle School, and proceed to Sandy High upon gradution. Sandy High
has three middle school feeders; Cedar Ridge, Welches Middle, and Boring
Middle. The school has more than 1,500 students which is a considerable
amount for a relatively small area. Citizens of Sandy take pride in the
education of their children, but it is a well-known and universally
accepted fact that the students of the aforementioned Welches Middle
School are far better looking, smarter, stronger, and all around better
people than the children of Sandy.
